About us

Our mission

Since 1987, the West Island Crisis Centre (WICC) has been responding to the needs of adults in situational crisis, emotional distress or adjustment crisis, suicidal or not, as well as those of their loved ones. The WICC operates in the following areas: Pierrefonds / Roxboro, Île-Bizard / Sainte-Geneviève as well as the municipalities of Senneville, Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue, Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Beaconsfield, Baie-d’Urfé, Kirkland, Dorval and Pointe-Claire.

Like the territory in which we live, our environment is multilingual.

The mission of the West Island Crisis Centre is to respond to the needs of adults in a state of situational crisis, emotional distress or adjustment crisis, whether suicidal or not, as well as their loved ones.

A partnership agreement exists between the West Island Crisis Centre and the West Island CIUSSS. The West Island Crisis Centre is also designated by the CIUSSS Centre Sud for the application of Section 8 of Act P-38.001 when one of our responders is in the presence of a person known to the centre.

Expertise

With a strong management team focused on continuous improvement and growth, the West Island Crisis Centre possesses recognized expertise in many areas. We are committed to training our teams throughout the year and value the sharing of knowledge and experience, making our centre an inclusive workplace. Our responders are trained in suicide prevention, assessment of homicidal risk in the context of domestic violence, bereavement support, and response in aggressive situations. We make it a point of honour to update our knowledge as often as possible.

The centre is recognized within the community and we are often asked to give talks on depression or resilience, for example. We provide services in French and English and many of our staff are able to provide guidance in other languages (Arabic, Spanish…)

We participate in several bodies such as the Table de Concertation en Violence Conjugale, the Table de Santé Mentale de l’Ouest-de-l’Île or the Regroupement des Services d’Intervention de Crise du Québec, which allows us to be on the lookout for new practices and to be able to provide more complete services adapted to the needs of our clientele.

The strength of a multidisciplinary and dedicated team!

On a daily basis, our team imbues and propagates the values of our organization: growth, caring, unity, openness and trust.
